Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out about volunteer opportunities before I make a decision?
Go to the volunteer opportunities link and read about the different opportunities we have available or call 664-0339 to get more details about activities that might interest you.
What is the time commitment?
Fear of having to give more time than people can afford, keeps some people from volunteering. The time commitment is up to you to decide.
I want to volunteer, what do I do?
If you are interested in one of our opportunities or have a skill or interest you would like to share, you can fill out the on-line application and you will be contacted. You can also call 664-0339 and tell us you want to volunteer.
What can I expect next?
You will talk with the executive director and together decide what you will do. You will receive an orientation to the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center and any additional training if needed depending on the activity you choose.
Will my insurance rates go up if I use my car for volunteering purpose?
No. According to the Maine Insurance Code, “An insurance company can not refuse to issue liability insurance solely because an applicant is a volunteer driver – nor can they impose a surcharge or increase rates solely on that basis.”
