Additional Information for BWCRC Executive Director Candidates

Michael Reisman, the BWCRC’s original and current Executive Director, has led this nonprofit’s growth from its humble beginnings to a center with a physical hub. From this hub, the BWCRC reaches out and services the citizens of the two easternmost counties in Maine, where cancer has a disproportionately high impact on the citizens who are often logistically challenged when seeking treatment and support services.

The BWCRC evolved from the Choose Life Foundation, started in 2000 by Beth Wright, her family and friends. Through her own battle with cancer in Washington County, Beth realized that there was little local support for cancer patients and their caregivers. Because of this lack of services, Beth followed her vision and started a local support group that has grown into a vibrant, two-county organization offering patient support, financial help and enrichment programs.
