Reflections: Reimagining Beauty
A Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center Beauty Program for Cancer Patients
The new Reflections: Reimagining Beauty beauty program offered by the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center supports cancer patients actively in treatment who may experience appearance-related side effects like hair loss and skin sensitivity. To help them regain confidence in their appearance, our professional hairstylist/cosmetologist, Rebecca Davis, will offer options for head-coverings (wigs, scarves, hats), instructions for skincare, and tips on make-up application. This is available to any cancer patient free of charge.
Many colors and styles of wigs are offered for free to the patients upon request. Following CDC protocols for reducing the risk of COVID-19 spread, Rebecca is available by appointment to meet with clients at the Center to have the wigs fitted and trimmed, and to receive instructions on washing and care. These one-on-one appointments give us the flexibility to offer clients a more personal, private experience when it is more convenient for them.
The BWC has received a donation of cosmetics from Walgreens in Ellsworth to share with clients during each session. Individuals will be instructed in proper hygiene around products and the application of cosmetics. Sample lotions and cosmetics can be taken home afterward so that they may replicate what they have learned. Private sessions may be requested as they are for the wig fittings.
If you have more questions or if you would like to make an appointment please call the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center at 664-0339.
