Qigong with Nancye Files Live at Beth Wright Center
September 26 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Monday, repeating until December 12, 2022
Qigong sessions are returning to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center this summer. Qigong is a complementary therapy practice that supports the body’s natural healing process. Nancye Files had been leading Qigong practice sessions for several years stopping during the pandemic but will resume in-person on Monday, June 13 at 1 pm and will take place every Monday from 1 – 2 pm (except holidays.) Participants in this group follow along to a video with Nancye’s knowledgeable guidance.
Qigong is a gentle, moving meditation that combines physical postures, stretching, and breathing techniques while focusing the mind to gain a deeper sense of calm. This coordination of body, breath and mind is thought to improve physical fitness, relieve stress, and promote over-all well-being. Qigong is an ancient practice based on traditional Chinese medicine which recognizes and activates the body’s natural vital energy: Chi (Qi). Other benefits of Qigong are improved balance, pain relief, increased energy, and increased brain function. The National Health Institute recommends Qigong and Tai Chi for people living with cancer.
This a gentle exercise that people of any age or any level of physical fitness can do. Beginners are welcome. It can be practiced anywhere at any time wearing comfortable clothing.
