Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center telecasts Dempsey Center program

The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center continues to collaborate with the Dempsey Center, a renowned provider of cancer support services in Lewiston and South Portland, Maine, to bring a selection of their holistic cancer support programs to rural downeast Maine. This partnership is helping expand and complement the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center’s educational programming for the people of Hancock and Washington Counties seeking information and connection with others during the cancer journey. Two new programs offered this February will help cancer patients learn how to better communicate with their care providers and learn about neuropathy a common side effect of cancer treatment.
On February 2, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm ‘Communicating with your Healthcare Team’ led by Dr. Jason LaChance will discuss how to communicate effectively with your doctor, nurses, and other members of your healthcare team. A cancer diagnosis opens a world of questions for the patient and their care partners, but many often struggle with communicating their questions to their healthcare team. How do you let a physician know what is important to you? You will get answers to questions such as:
- What life experiences might impact your decisions?
- What if you change your mind?
- What are the benefits of a second opinion?
- What if I do not understand what I am being told?
