13th Annual Downeast Living with Cancer Conference

“The Many Faces of Survivorship”

REGISTER NOW

The 13th Annual Downeast Living with Cancer Conference will offer an educational, supportive, action-packed day on Thursday, November 7, 2019, in Bar Harbor. The Many Faces of Survivorship” will be this year’s theme. The many faces of survivorship are as unique as the individual and can mean many things to many people. The goal of this year’s conference is to empower survivors, their caregivers, and supporters with information from both the allopathic and integrative medical perspectives – providing tools for self-advocacy; overcoming fear and other negative emotions; and the many ways of increasing well-being. Three featured speakers will focus on topics related to  survivorship.

During treatment survivorship concerns may include getting to treatment, financial resources, proper nutrition and exercise, and having a reliable support system. After treatment, survivorship concerns shift to the health and life of a person with cancer, including physical, psycho-social, and economic facets of life beyond diagnosis and treatment. Survivorship includes issues related to the ability to get health-care and follow-up treatments, residual effects of treatment, second cancers, and quality of life. Family members, friends and caregivers are also considered part of the survivorship experience. It is our hope that this year’s Living with Cancer Conference will address the survivorship needs that are most important to all attending the conference.
