Eastern Maine Cancer Series

This year has brought many challenges to in-person events and programs held for the cancer community. For the past many years, The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center and The Christine B. Foundation held important programs in-person- giving access to resources and offering empowerment to those who have received a cancer diagnosis. Though these social distancing concerns need to be followed, the voices of our cancer community are stronger than ever, reminding us we can come together in new ways.

The Down East Living With Cancer Conference, Washington County Cancer Conference, and Bangor Region Cancer Conference are joining forces to create the Eastern Maine Cancer Series – a virtual experience happening through Zoom from November 17-19. This new partnership will bring much-needed resources, education, and support to people affected by a cancer diagnosis that will help them navigate the challenges they are facing at this difficult time. Come for one series, or come for all five!

Donna Weigle is a 30-year cervical cancer survivor who is now four years into her cancer journey with stage IV ovarian cancer. It has not been easy for Donna, but she has an amazing way of putting one foot in front of the other and continuing to live her life in a positive way.  Her mission is to help other women learn the symptoms of ovarian cancer and to help them advocate for themselves with their medical providers.

She has found support with friends she has made at the Turning the Tide Ovarian Cancer Retreat.  Her greatest joy is spending time on her motorcycle. Donna completed a solo ride in 2019 on her Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling across the U.S to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and raise money for several non-profit cancer organizations, including the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center.

Donna believes in living a purposeful life and continues to run a small health center on Swan’s Island where she lives with her husband, Charlie, and their two rescue dogs.
