Addison and Ellsworth, Maine–Students at the D.W. Merritt school in Addison raised over $600.00 at their “Knock-Out” Childhood Cancer fundraiser last fall and chose to donate the proceeds to the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellsworth. Michael Reisman, Executive Director of the Center, met with the members of the Student Council at the D.W. Merritt School in Addison in January to thank them for the generous donation to the Center.
In the spirit of giving back, Michael expressed the Center’s gratitude for their efforts by presenting the students with a discussion of what cancer is and how it is treated. Michael also illustrated the history of how the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center came to be. He highlighted the importance of small acts of kindness and giving, using Beth Wright as an example of her acts of kindness that lead to many more acts of kindness that have helped people in the Addison area and many others across the entire state of Maine. He emphasized the importance of helping others.
The student council is planning to walk in the annual Beth Wright Walk For Life in Addison on May 16, 2020. If you’d like to find out more about the Beth C. Wright Center, call 207-664-0339.
