Walk for Life – May 19

You are invited to participate in the 12th Annual Beth C. Wright Walk for Life starting at the Addison Town Hall on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 10:00. Last year $31,000 was raised from sponsors and pledges collected by walkers. This year’s goal is $35,000.

Again this year there will again be two options, a 5 mile loop and a 2 mile out and back course. The Walk for Life provides critical funding for our free services, support, and programs to cancer survivors, their family and friends in Downeast Maine. Registration starts at 8:30 with the opening ceremony at 9:30.

This year's event promises to be an exciting one with fun activities for the whole family. In addition to the Walk in honor and memory of people that have been affected by cancer, there will be a Barbecue Lunch, Chinese Auction, 50/50 Raffle, Bake Sale, entertainment by DJ Clyde and the University of Maine at Machias Ukulele Club, Face Painting, Kiddie Train and other children’s activities.

This year we are encouraging people to form teams of at least five people and gain special recognition for the team by raising at least $500.00. If you are interested in forming a team, please call 664-0339 for details.

The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center has helped people in the past year through programs held at the Center in Ellsworth and through outreach programs in Washington and Hancock counties. In 2011, over $22,000 was given to help people with financial stresses associated their diagnosis and treatments. We are making a difference in the lives of many people living with cancer in our communities.
