What Do I Need? Taking Care of Yourself While Caring for a Loved one.
January 23 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pmFree
The Beth Wright Cancer Center will be hosting a Cancer Caregivers Workshop at the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center in Ellworth. Much research, as well as our own life experience, tells us that wellness is not only a physical state, but a psychological one. Our emotional well-being is as important as our body’s healthiness. Emotional well-being encompasses our needs for supportive connection with others, and also with ourselves – our values, our sense of meaning, our beliefs. Being a caregiver is rewarding but demanding. This workshop offers a time for community and renewal, as well as self-care strategies.
The workshop will be presented by Alice Hildebrand. Alice Hildebrand is a UCC minister and presently is the minister at the West Brooksville Congregational Church. Previously she has also been the minister at the Blue Hill Congregational Church and the Deer Isle / Sunset Congregational Church. Alice lives in Brooklin.
Alice is also a Board Certified Chaplain, and recently served for six years as chaplain to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland. She also has served as the chaplain for Hancock County HomeCare and Hospice from 1999-2003 and later at Maine Medical Center, where she worked closely with patients, families, and caregivers.
Alice has been engaged in research aimed at understanding and improving patient, family, and provider well-being, and hopes to continue this work. This workshop will take place on January 23, 2018 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and is free. It is not necessary to register.
