Held at Down East Family YMCA, Ellsworth
This class is a collaborative effort between the Down East Family YMCA and the Beth C. Wright Center. This program is designed to help cancer patients who have cancer related fatigue due to radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or the disease process. The program provides an atmosphere of encouragement, exercise, and group motivation in order to alleviate the side effects of cancer treatments. Exercises are designed to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility. Each person will meet with a certified cancer exercise specialist before starting the class.
"I'm a volunteer here at the Beth Wright center. I teach weekly yoga classes and breathing and relaxation classes. I love being at the Beth Wright center. I find that my students, many of whom are still undergoing chemotherapy or have completed chemotherapy, are among the nicest, warmest people I know. They are enthusiastic about life, they try many new things, they are warm, they are supportive of each other, and they are supportive of other people, helping others in the community."
