The Ride for Life is over for another year. The weather was good and with sponsor fees and riders and hikers fees and pledges, $16,000 was raised. Thank you to the riders and all the volunteers who participated. Thanks to our sponsors: gold sponsors Acadia Realty Group, Bar Harbor Banking and Trust, Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop, Nova Foods, Friend and Friend, TradeWinds Market Place and silver sponsor, Mainescape Garden Shop.

A special thank you goes to Blue Hill Heritage Trust for the use of the Patten Stream Preserve for our hike. We urge people to take advantage of the many trails they have to offer. Information on those trails can be found at www.bluehillheritagetrust,org.

Kudos also to Pugnuts Ice Cream Shop in Surry for their gift certificates for ice cream.

The Mount Desert Island Hospital team was the top fundraising team again this year and top individual fundraiser was Matt Garrish. The winners will be treated to a supper for their efforts.

Top individuals were Matt Garrish -$2800, Kathleen Kotas -$1610, Keith Hutchinson – $975, Carmen Sanford – $ 934, Molly Collins – $ 850, Vicky Vendrell – $695, Erik and Shellie Tourtillotte – $ 555, Matt Frongillo – $525, Phil Bailey – $450, and Daniel Bridgers- $400.

We appreciate all funds raised through this event. It is through the efforts of all that participated that we are able to help people with cancer and continue to expand our program offerings in more communities in Hancock and Washington Counties.
